If I have learned anything during this Pandemic of 2020 and shelter in place is 1) how grateful I am to have a Sam’s Card for Toilet Paper and 40 pounds of peanut butter and 2) to have a business that can bend and flex and go with the flow and that can still thrive because it is mine and mine alone.
I am saddened by the amount of close family and friends that have lost jobs, had salaries literally cut in half, have mortgages and debt and lifestyles that cannot blend and flex and go with the flow. Some have lost that financial freedom that I think we all either take for granted or wish we had. I have no doubt they will recover, but there will be challenges, I’m sure.
This is just one huge reason why I am and will always be an advocate for entrepreneurship, but now more than ever I believe that having multiple streams of income is so, so important. There are plenty of articles floating around out there on this topic from economic leaders, however, let this Momma and Kitchen Counter CEO give it to you straight… If you have ever even considered starting a side hustle, now is the time! Now is the time to do a major brain dump of those ‘crazy’ ideas floating around in your head, put them on paper and have serious heart to heart talks with yourself about increasing your income and becoming your own boss.
“Create your VISION... WHY would starting a business change your life”
1) Create your VISION. Ask yourself what kind of life you want to have as a result of a successful business. What do your finances look like, how does your lifestyle change, who do you become. Start at the end result to get an understanding of WHY starting a business would change your life.

2) Take INVENTORY. Take an inventory of your strengths and weaknesses in regards to your business talents. Are you tech savvy, creative, what are your talents? Can you provide a product or a service that feels authentic to you?

3) Assess your RESOURCES. Take a good hard look at your available resources such as time and space. Can you rearrange things in your household to give you the time everyday to dedicate to a new side hustle? Do you have the space to work, create and concentrate? Do you have a tribe or a support center to turn to so that you can thrive as a Kitchen Counter CEO? If not, can you create one? Don’t forget simple things like technology… can you work from your phone, have a computer, etc.

4) Check your VIBE. Launching a business can be daunting but it doesn’t have to be. Your VIBE and MINDSET will determine the ease or difficulty of this journey. So, put your vibe and attitude in check. Are you open to the challenges that will come? Are you committed to the future life you want to create?
There were times that we had absolutely no extra income to enjoy simple pleasures even when I worked outside the home. Now, four years later of entrepreneurship, lots of shifts and changes but I have freedom. Freedom to enjoy simple pleasures. Freedom to splurge and/or save. Freedom to be home and in my own space, not someone else's. Freedom to just believe in my own dreams and build that legacy for my family.
You can too! No pandemic, quarantine, distance learning or any other global event should ever reduce your VISION to ashes and destroy you. Having the freedom and flexibility of creating a side hustle for extra income or creating a business that is the foundation of your family’s financial freedom is a blessing!
