Life in Oils

I was working at a local coffee shop with my friend and accountability partner, Amanda, the other day and we were reminiscing about how far we have come in this oily business that is DoTerra.  WE were laughing about Convention shenanigans and wondering to what happened to fellow oily sisters that we have lost contact with.  As with most things people come and go, but we have stood strong for all of the last 5ish years and so thankful we have!

One thing that we both agree on is that this oily life that we have has been really good to us.  For me and my family, it was totally about our health and wellness.  We needed to make some changes, create new and better habits that my kids could carry with them always.  We started by getting off of allergy meds rather quickly.  Lemon, lavender, and peppermint (our allergy bomb), became our best friend! We eventually rid the house of cough meds, fever reducers, etc and learned how to use our oils for all those little things.  Tummy bugs, viruses and even lice scares from school… there were oily remedies that totally worked for us!

Next we ditched the wick-less candles, the Febreeze, the Lysol and even windex, wood polish, fragranced laundry detergent, etc.  All of it was replaced with natural, pure essential oils.  Flea prevention for the dogs, home fragrances & room sprays, even skin care and hormonal support - all these things can be supported with essential oils.  It still amazes me even as I speak about it now.

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would be this crunchy of a mom, I would have called BS.  I loved 3 for 1 sales at the big box stores on body washes and candles.  I loved my Fabuloso to clean everything with.

I didn’t think my house was clean until is smelled like the cleaner isle of the grocery store.

Man, I was so wrong.

Over the years in studying the benefits of essential oils I realized how much crap is in all those things that we buy and bring into our homes to ‘clean’ or to smell nice.  So much crap and poison!  I know some might roll their eyes and call me dramatic, and I am - I own my drama queen crown.  Those products contribute to our allergies, effect those with respiratory problems by constantly ingesting toxic particles that do not allow our bodies to find relief.  Fake and synthetic fragrances contribute to our headaches, migraines, inability to sleep, anxiety and so much more.

I felt so guilty as a mom for simply following the norm and exposing my precious kiddos to these toxic things.  I didn’t let them have soft drink, but I enveloped the air in our home with fragrances that were fake and meds that we probably didn’t need.

But then I learned a different way.  A better way for my family.  I took the initiative to read, to study, to take the training, to go to the meetings, to jump on the FB trainings, to do the classes, the webinars, and to ask the questions.  I took charge of my family’s health and wellness.

I’m not a saint by the way.  I personally do not turn down a glass of wine easily, I’m not vegan or even vegetarian and still love a few Cheetos every now and then.  But the point is that I was willing to learn about alternatives to help improve our overall lifestyle.  I was able to teach my kids to reach for an oil and not an aspirin.  I learned that aromatherapy is really a thing with real benefits and not just a candle that smells of apple pie or a mojito.  By the way, why do we want to use lotions on our body that smell of cocktails or baked goods?  I can’t believe I did that. But I did.

I know better now.

And I haven’t even mentioned that DōTERRA is what blessed me enough to quit my full time job almost 5 years ago to stay home and be available for my growing kids and still make an income. Yup, it happened alright.

Am I a millionaire yet?  Nope, but working on it! But I can stay home, I can pay for all the extra curricular activities, parties, weekends away to visit family, gas for all the bazillion miles my kids have me driving, the insane amount of food that growing teens need.  I can buy new clothes every other day as they outgrow things overnight it seems like.  I can provide for my family.  On my time, in my way and in leggings and a t-shirt.

The question is, after that last 18 months of chaos and uncertainty, global health issues, monumental levels of stress and anxiety, homeschooling, virtual learning and zoom calls, aren’t you ready to take more control of your wellness, wellbeing and mental health?  Aren’t you ready to empower your kids to do the same?  How about having multiple streams of income just in case?

Change can be challenging, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. You can’t go full on oil ninja overnight, it takes time and patience.  The great thing is that I have the time and patience to coach you, mentor you, support you, and cheer you on when you are ready.

Can’t wait to chat to see how I can help you make small changes that will make a huge impact in your life!
